The official ‘e’ newsletter

The Pundit

The Foundation’s monthly mixture of member contributions, word games, groaners, annual lists, institutional news, and affectionate linguistic disorder.

Surviving run

The website preserves electronic issues from the late 1990s through the final 2008 run.

A community in print

Crosbie edited and published The Pundit for about fourteen years before his death in 1994. It linked a scattered membership through mailed wordplay, annual “Best-Stressed” selections, riddles, haiku, and news of gatherings.

Norman Gilbert continued the newsletter after Crosbie’s death. The web era preserved later issues and monthly scans, and The Pundit ultimately ended with the close of 2008 as Gilbert retired from the Chairman of the Bored role at the beginning of 2009.

The official publication of the International Save the Pun Foundation.

The original electronic pages remain available through the research links, with their dates and provenance intact.

Important: the newsletter contains period language, forwarded material, and unclear attribution. A future scholarly edition should distinguish authored work, member submissions, and recycled jokes before republishing the full corpus. Open the recovered scans →
